Compassionate, evidence-based therapy for adults navigating anxiety, trauma, and life transitions — in Santa Monica and across California via telehealth.
About Dr. Reynolds
I'm Dr. Maya Reynolds, a licensed psychologist (PsyD) based in Santa Monica, California. I specialize in helping adults who are struggling with anxiety, trauma, and the weight of past experiences that follow them into everyday life.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and deeply individualized. I believe that healing isn't one-size-fits-all — which is why I draw from multiple evidence-based modalities including EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and mindfulness-based practices, tailoring every session to your unique needs and goals.
I work primarily with adults navigating anxiety disorders, PTSD, depression, life transitions, and relationship challenges. Whether you're coming in for the first time or have worked with a therapist before, I'm here to meet you where you are.
Chronic worry, social anxiety, panic attacks, and generalized anxiety can feel overwhelming. Using CBT, ACT, and somatic techniques, we'll work to understand your anxiety, build practical coping tools, and help you reclaim a calmer, more grounded life.
Learn More →Traumatic experiences don't have to define your future. I offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and trauma-informed CBT to help you safely process difficult memories and reduce the hold they have on your day-to-day life.
Learn More →From persistent low mood to the disorientation of major life changes — divorce, career shifts, grief, or identity questions — therapy can be a steady anchor. Together we'll explore what's beneath the surface and build a path toward meaning and momentum.

I believe that effective therapy combines the rigor of science with the art of genuine human connection. No two people are alike, and neither should their treatment be. I draw from a range of proven approaches to create a plan that's truly yours.
Sessions are collaborative — you set the pace. Whether we're working through the roots of anxiety, processing trauma, or building skills for daily resilience, I'm with you every step of the way with compassion, honesty, and clinical expertise.
Stepping into my office should feel like a breath of fresh air. I've designed the space intentionally — warm light, comfortable seating, soft textures, and complete acoustic privacy — so that you can feel safe enough to open up.

Dr. Reynolds helped me understand my anxiety in a way no one ever had. After years of struggling, I finally feel like I have real tools — and a real ally. I can't recommend her enough.
The EMDR work we did together was transformational. I came in feeling haunted by my past, and now I genuinely feel free from it. Dr. Reynolds is incredibly skilled and deeply compassionate.
Going through a divorce felt impossible to navigate alone. Dr. Reynolds helped me rediscover who I am and what I want. Her warmth and wisdom carried me through the hardest year of my life.
Starting therapy can bring up a lot of questions — that's completely natural. Here are answers to the ones I hear most often. If yours isn't here, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Contact MeI am currently an out-of-network provider. I provide a superbill (detailed receipt) that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Many clients with PPO plans receive partial or full reimbursement. I'm happy to discuss this during your free consultation.
It truly depends on your goals and what you're working through. Some clients find meaningful change within 3–6 months; others benefit from longer-term support. We'll discuss this together and check in regularly to make sure therapy is meeting your needs.
Yes! I offer secure telehealth sessions for clients across California. Many of my clients choose telehealth for its convenience and flexibility. Sessions are conducted via a HIPAA-compliant video platform that's easy to use from any device.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a well-researched therapy for trauma and PTSD. It uses guided bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements) to help the brain reprocess distressing memories, reducing their emotional charge. It may sound unusual, but the research supporting it is robust and many clients find it transformative.
Simply reach out through the contact form below or call my office directly. I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation so we can get a sense of whether we're a good fit before you commit to anything. I look forward to hearing from you.
